Flat
Deliberately flattened pearls, including squares, pentagons and irregular tablets.
Flat pearls are grown against a shaped nucleus or trimmed to sit level. They stack and layer in ways round pearls cannot.
Because they sit flush, they suit chokers, cuffs and anything worn close to the body.
Geometric flats such as pentagons and squares are a modern design cue and read as intentional rather than accidental.
