Nagapadam
A Kerala necklace of serpent-hood pendants, usually set with red stones on a gold ground.
Nagapadam means serpent hood. Each pendant is a stylised cobra head, referring to the serpent worship long established in Kerala.
The pendants hang in a graduated row, largest at the centre, on a plain chain or a beaded strand.
It is worn as a temple and bridal piece, often alongside palakka and kasu malai.
