Bali
A hoop earring. In Indian jewellery, often strung with pearls or beads around the ring.
A bali is a simple circle passing through the ear, sized from a snug huggie to a large statement hoop.
Pearl balis thread small pearls onto the hoop itself, so the pearls sit around the circle rather than hanging from it.
The closure is either a hinged post or a plain wire hook that slots into the opposite end.
When you are buying
Check how the hoop closes. A plain hook opening is easy to lose; a hinged and clicking closure is worth the small extra cost on anything valuable.
