Chandra means moon, and the name describes the crescent the layered rows make when worn.
Rows increase in length from the neck downward, sometimes joined at the sides by decorative side panels.
It is one of the heaviest traditional necklace forms and a centrepiece of Rajasthani and Deccan bridal sets.
